Setup Telegram Alerts for MetaTrader
Get real-time Telegram notifications for trades, errors or disconnections from your MetaTrader platform.
The Problem
You can't watch the platform every minute, and by the time you check in, a disconnect or an unexpected trade might have already cost you — instant alerts close that gap.
About this problem
MetaTrader has built-in push notifications, but they require the mobile app and offer little control. Sending to Telegram means creating a bot, obtaining a chat ID, allowing the Telegram API URL in the terminal's WebRequest list, and having code on the platform side that calls the API when events occur. Each of these pieces can fail quietly if one detail is wrong.
People usually want this because they cannot monitor the platform all day and have been caught out by a disconnect or a trade they only noticed later. They want short, useful messages sent straight to their phone.
What's Included
- Setting up a Telegram bot connected to your MetaTrader instance
- Configuring which events trigger an alert (trade opened/closed, errors, disconnects)
- Testing with real trigger events to confirm delivery
- Keeping the message format clear and genuinely useful at a glance
What's NOT Included
- Building two-way trade control via Telegram (alerts only, not remote command execution)
- EA code changes beyond adding the alert hooks
- Ongoing bot maintenance
How It Works
- I create or configure a Telegram bot and obtain the bot token and the chat or channel ID that will receive messages.
- I allow the Telegram API address in the MetaTrader WebRequest options so the terminal can send messages.
- I add the alert logic, either through a small helper script or by adding alert hooks to your EA, for the events you choose.
- I format each message to show the key details at a glance, such as symbol, direction, volume and result.
- I trigger real test events, such as a trade open or a forced disconnect, to confirm messages are delivered.
- I document where the token and settings live so you can change them later.
In practice: you buy the service, send over whatever access or details the job needs, I investigate and do the work, and you confirm it's resolved before we call it done.
Frequently Asked Questions
- How do I get Telegram notifications from MetaTrader 5?
- You need a Telegram bot, a chat ID, WebRequest permission for the Telegram API URL, and code that sends the messages. I set up all of it and test it.
- Can I control trades from Telegram too?
- No. This service is alerts only. Two-way trade control is not included.
- Will you change my EA's code?
- Only to add the alert hooks. Other code changes or debugging are not included.
- Can it alert me when MetaTrader disconnects?
- Connection loss can be monitored from the platform side, though a VPS that is fully offline cannot message you. We can discuss the options when you get in touch.
- Do I need my own Telegram bot?
- Yes, a bot is created under a Telegram account. I can walk through creating it, or do it with you, so that you own the token.
- Is ongoing maintenance included?
- No. It is a one-off setup. If Telegram or your setup changes later, that would be a new job.
