How this calculator works

Order of operations (BODMAS / PEMDAS): brackets first, then powers and roots, then multiplication and division, then addition and subtraction. So 2+3*4 is 14 and -2^2 is −4. Powers are evaluated right to left: 2^3^2 is 29 = 512.

Degrees or radians: the Deg/Rad button changes how sin, cos and tan read their input and how the inverse functions give their answer. log is base 10, ln is the natural logarithm, % divides by 100 and n! works for whole numbers from 0 to 170. nCr(n,r) counts combinations and nPr(n,r) permutations. You can also type 2pi or 3(4+1) — multiplication is understood.

Accuracy: results use standard double-precision arithmetic and are shown to 12 significant digits, so 0.1+0.2 gives 0.3. Everything is calculated in your browser; nothing is sent anywhere.
