UK National Insurance Calculator
Work out National Insurance for 2026/27, as an employee or as a self-employed person.
An estimate, not a payslip. Category A (the standard category) only — other category letters have different rates. Figures are the 2026/27 rates on GOV.UK (checked 7 October 2026).
How it's worked out
Employees (Class 1, category A): no National Insurance on the first £12,570 a year, 8% on earnings between £12,570 and £50,270, and 2% above that.
Self-employed: Class 2 is now treated as already paid once profits reach £7,105 (no payment due) — below that, paying it voluntarily protects your National Insurance record. Class 4 is 6% of profits between £12,570 and £50,270, and 2% above that.
