Pension Annual Allowance Calculator

Work out how much you can pay into a pension this tax year before the annual allowance tax charge applies.

An estimate, not pension advice. Figures are the 2026/27 rates on GOV.UK (checked 7 October 2026).

Unused allowance to carry forward (optional, from the 3 previous tax years)

How it's worked out

The standard annual allowance is £60,000. If you've flexibly accessed a money purchase pension, it's replaced by the £10,000 Money Purchase Annual Allowance instead. Otherwise, if your threshold income is over £200,000 and your adjusted income is over £260,000, the allowance tapers down by £1 for every £2 of adjusted income above £260,000, down to a minimum of £10,000. You can also carry forward unused allowance from the 3 previous tax years, as long as you were a member of a registered pension scheme in each of those years.
