Hash Identifier

Paste a hash to see which algorithms it is most likely to come from, based on its length, characters and format.

What this tool can and can't tell you

Many algorithms produce output of exactly the same length — a 32-character hex string could be MD5, NTLM, MD4 or several others — so length and format point to candidates, not a certain answer. Formats with a prefix, such as $2y$ for bcrypt or $6$ for SHA-512 crypt, are much more reliable. The context where you found the hash (a database, a file checksum, a web app's password table) is the best clue of all. This tool only identifies the likely type: it does not crack, reverse or look up hashes, and it works entirely in your browser — what you paste is not sent anywhere.
