Checksum & CRC Calculator
Get every common checksum of a file at once — CRC-32, Adler-32, MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256 and more — and compare it with the value you expect.

Just need a quick SHA hash of a file? Our File Hash Calculator is a simpler tool that calculates one SHA-1, SHA-256 or SHA-512 hash at a time. This Checksum & CRC Calculator shows many results at once — including CRC-32, CRC-32C, CRC-16, Adler-32 and MD5, which the File Hash Calculator does not offer — and lets you paste an expected value to compare.
Which checksum should I use?
To check that a download arrived intact, compare against whatever the publisher lists — usually SHA-256, sometimes MD5 or SHA-1. CRC-32 and Adler-32 are fast error-detection codes used by ZIP, PNG, gzip and Ethernet; they catch accidental corruption but are not secure against deliberate tampering. MD5 and SHA-1 are also considered broken for security purposes, but are still fine for spotting accidental damage. Files up to 512 MB are handled in full; for larger files only the streaming checksums (CRC, Adler-32, MD5) are calculated, because the browser's SHA functions need the whole file in memory.
