Reverse Audio
Play a sound backwards. Reverse a whole recording or just a chosen part, listen to the result, and save it.
What reversing does
Reversing plays the samples in the opposite order, so the end becomes the start. Speech turns into unintelligible murmuring, a piano note swells and then stops suddenly, and a cymbal crash builds up — a classic effect in music production and sound design. You can reverse the whole file, or select a part (for example the tail of a cymbal) and leave the rest untouched.
The preview plays up to 20 seconds of the reversed sound. Save as WAV for a lossless result or MP3 for a smaller file. To change how fast it plays, see change audio speed; to cut a clip first use the MP3 cutter.
Frequently asked questions
Can I reverse just a bit of the song?
Yes: choose “Only the selected part” and drag on the waveform (or type the times).
Why does reversed speech sound strange?
Speech sounds are shaped by how they start and end; backwards, the order of those sounds is upside down.
Is my file uploaded?
