Landed Cost Calculator
Add shipping, insurance, customs duty and import VAT to a product's cost to see its true landed cost per unit.
How it is worked out
The customs value (CIF) is the goods cost plus shipping plus insurance. Customs duty is a percentage of the CIF value. UK import VAT is then charged on the CIF value plus the duty — not just on the goods cost — before any other fees are added. Landed cost per unit is the grand total divided by quantity, which is the number that actually tells you your true cost per item once it has cleared customs.
