Choosing a resolution

A standard page is 8.3 × 11.7 inches (A4) or 8.5 × 11 inches (Letter), so at 150 DPI you get roughly 1240 × 1750 pixels — plenty for reading on screen and for most slides and web use; choose 300 DPI when you plan to print. Very large pages or high resolutions are automatically scaled down to stay within what browsers can handle safely (about 32 megapixels per page). With “Transparent background” the white paper is left out, which is useful for logos and diagrams. Up to 100 pages are converted at a time — use the page box for longer documents. Password-protected PDFs need to be unlocked first.
