Master Sender
Publishes the open positions of the account it runs on, for a Master Receiver on the same computer, with gates for new orders. It never trades and never touches the source account.
DRF_Master_Sender_EA · version 3.00 · Copy trading
Test it on a demo account first. When everything works as you expect, use it on a real account.
Used by the author on XAUUSD (gold). It works on any symbol.
The problem it addresses
To mirror one account into others you need a reliable, fast channel and some gates, so that one bad moment is not copied everywhere.
What it does
Runs on the account being copied. Publishes its open positions several times a second in a file in the MetaTrader Common folder, for a Master Receiver on the same computer.
Before a NEW position is forwarded it can be held back by: the daily loss limit of the source account, a news block, an indicator-reading filter and a duplicate filter. A held-back order is never forwarded later, and a forwarded position is never pulled back.
Who it is for: Traders who want to feed one or more Master Receivers on the same computer from one account.
Symbols and timeframes: Publishes positions on any symbol (or the symbols you list). The timeframe of the chart does not matter.
The idea behind it
Mirror one account into other accounts on the same computer, with a few safety gates for new orders.
History
Version 3.00 is the DRF version, rebuilt from the earlier Master Sender. Tested on a demo account together with a Master Receiver on one computer: a source trade was published and copied, and the copy followed the close.
Indicators used
- Indicator reading on M15, H1, H4 (for the optional filter)
What is included
- Position channel through a file with an atomic swap
- Daily loss gate, news gate, indicator-reading gate, duplicate gate
- Panel with the channel, the number of published positions and the last write
What is not included
- It does not trade and never touches the source account
- It does not work between two computers
- It cannot run in the Strategy Tester
How it works
- The Master Sender runs on the account that is copied. It reads the open positions of that account.
- Several times a second it writes them to a channel file in the MetaTrader Common folder, swapping the file atomically so the receiver never reads half a file.
- Before a NEW position is published it can be held back by the daily loss gate, the news gate, the indicator-reading gate and the duplicate gate. A held-back order is never published later.
- It never trades and never touches the source account.
What you need
- MetaTrader 5 on Windows.
- A Master Receiver on the same computer under the same Windows user.
- A DRF Key (7-day free trial) and https://sync.donaldsonrf.com in the WebRequest list, for the key check only.
How to install and test it
- Download the ZIP below and unzip it. It holds the Expert Advisor file (.ex5), a settings preset (.set) with an empty DRF Key, and INSTALL.txt with these steps.
- In MetaTrader 5 choose File > Open Data Folder, open MQL5 > Experts, and copy the .ex5 file there. Back in MetaTrader, right-click Expert Advisors in the Navigator and choose Refresh.
- Tools > Options > Expert Advisors: tick "Allow algorithmic trading" and "Allow WebRequest for listed URL", then add https://sync.donaldsonrf.com to the list. Nothing else is needed. Press OK.
- Press the Algo Trading button in the top toolbar so it turns green.
- Drag the Expert Advisor from the Navigator onto a chart. On the Common tab tick "Allow Algo Trading". On the Inputs tab type your DRF Key in the first input (optionally load the .set preset first).
- Within about a minute the chart panel shows the state of your licence. If it says PAUSED, the panel tells you why. Test the EA on a demo account first. When everything works as you expect, use it on a real account.
- Use the same channel name as the receiver (default DRF_MASTER). If you run the receiver on the same account, list only the source magic numbers in "Magic numbers to publish", otherwise the receiver's copies would be published again.
The key: every DRF Expert Advisor needs a DRF Key, with a 7-day free trial. Every plan, and the trial, unlocks the whole Expert Advisor.
Safety behaviour
- It never opens, closes or changes a position of the source account.
- The gates hold back NEW orders only.
- If the DRF Key lapses it stops publishing; the source account is untouched.
- If a receiver runs on the same account, list only the source magic numbers so the receiver's copies are not published again.
What can go wrong
- The receiver says it has no data.
- Check that the channel name is the same, that both run on the same computer and the same Windows user, and that the sender is attached to a chart with Algo Trading on.
- An order was not published.
- A gate held it back: daily loss, news, indicator reading or a duplicate. A held-back order is never published later.
- The receiver copies its own copies.
- List only the source magic numbers in "Magic numbers to publish".
- Panel shows PAUSED.
- Check the DRF Key and the WebRequest list.
- The panel says PAUSED: no DRF Key entered.
- Type your DRF Key in the first input (Inputs tab). The key looks like DRF-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX.
- The panel says the key could not be checked, or the log shows error 4014.
- Add https://sync.donaldsonrf.com to Tools > Options > Expert Advisors > "Allow WebRequest for listed URL", and check that the terminal is online and that the key has not expired.
- I see no panel or object on the chart.
- Press the Algo Trading button so it turns green, tick "Allow Algo Trading" on the Common tab, and look for the smiling face in the top right corner of the chart. Check the Experts tab of the Toolbox.
- The EA is not in the Navigator.
- Copy the .ex5 file into MQL5\Experts (File > Open Data Folder), then right-click Expert Advisors in the Navigator and choose Refresh. It is a MetaTrader 5 file; it does not run in MetaTrader 4.
Manual: every setting in plain language
Allow https://sync.donaldsonrf.com in MetaTrader's WebRequest list and enter your DRF Key in the first input.
DRF Key
- DRF Key (default: empty)
- Your DRF Key (it looks like DRF-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX). Leave it empty and the tool stays paused and says so on the chart.
Channel
- Channel name (receivers must use the same) (default: DRF_MASTER)
- The name of the file channel. A Master Receiver on the same computer must use exactly the same name.
What to publish
- Symbols to publish (comma separated, empty = all) (default: empty)
- Only publish positions on these symbols. Empty means all symbols.
- Magic numbers to publish (comma separated, empty = all, 0 = trades opened by hand) (default: empty)
- Only publish positions with these magic numbers. Empty means all. If the receiver runs on the SAME account, list only the source magic here, so the receiver's own copies are never published again.
Bias filter
- Only forward orders in the direction of the indicator bias of their symbol (default: off)
- Holds back a new order that goes against the indicator reading (M15, H1, H4) of its symbol.
- When the bias is mixed, forward nothing (default: off)
- With the option above on, also hold back orders while the reading is mixed.
News block
- Do not forward new orders around high-importance news for the symbol's currencies (default: on)
- Holds back new orders shortly before and after important news on the symbol's currencies (MetaTrader economic calendar).
Duplicate filter (identical orders opened close together)
- Hold back an order identical to one forwarded a moment ago (default: off)
- Avoids forwarding the same order twice when two identical orders open close together.
- Seconds between the two openings (default: 60)
- How close together two orders must open to count as identical.
- Identical means same symbol AND same direction (off: same symbol, any direction) (default: on)
- Defines "identical" for the duplicate filter.
- Also require the same lot size (default: off)
- Makes the duplicate filter stricter: the lot size must match as well.
Daily loss limit (stops forwarding new orders)
- Limit is set as (default: Percent of the start-of-day balance)
- How the daily loss limit below is measured: in money (your account currency) or as a percentage of the start-of-day balance (the default).
- Stop forwarding NEW orders for the rest of the server day (the source account itself is never touched) (default: on)
- When the daily loss limit is hit, no new order is forwarded until the next server day. Positions already open are never touched.
- Daily loss limit: drop from today's highest point (percent or money, as chosen above) (default: 2.5)
- How far the source account may drop from today's highest point before forwarding stops.
- E-mail when the limit is hit and at the next day's reset (Tools > Options > Email) (default: on)
- Sends an e-mail (needs e-mail set up in the terminal options).

Brokers and hosting I use
I recommend only what I use. I have been a client of IC Markets, IC Trading, FTMO and IONOS for many years.
- IC Markets is the broker of the DRF Signal account, and the broker I use myself.
- IC Trading is my suggestion if you live in Brazil or Europe.
- FTMO is my suggestion if you want a prop firm, anywhere in the world. I use an FTMO Classic account (FTMO Swing), because it leaves me full freedom.
- IONOS is the hosting company. The whole system runs on a Windows Server 2025 VPS at IONOS in New York, close to the broker.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Does it need the internet?
- Only for the DRF Key check. The channel is a file in the Common folder of MetaTrader.
- Does it change my source account?
- No. It only reads the positions and writes the channel file.
- Can a receiver on another computer use it?
- No. Both must run on the same computer under the same Windows user.
- What do the gates do?
- They hold back NEW orders only (daily loss, news, indicator reading, duplicates). A held-back order is never forwarded later.
- What happens if my DRF Key expires or is wrong?
- The Expert Advisor pauses and the chart says why. It never removes itself from the chart and it never closes or changes a position because of the licence. When the key is valid again it carries on by itself.
- Do I need a key to run it?
- Yes. Every DRF Expert Advisor needs a DRF Key, with a 7-day free trial. See the DRF Key page.
- Does it promise a result?
- No. Read the Risk Disclosure. Test on a demo account first; when everything works as you expect, use it on a real account.
