Convert code

Your system works, but it lives somewhere you can no longer use: a MetaTrader 4 terminal your broker is closing, or a Pine Script strategy you would rather run as a robot. I translate the logic into the new language and check the two versions against each other before you switch.

Please read. An Expert Advisor is a tool that follows rules. It does not predict the market, trading carries a high level of risk, and nothing I write comes with a promise of profit. Test every program on a demo account first, and use a real account only when everything works as you expect. Read the Risk Disclosure.

Who it is for

  • MetaTrader 4 users whose broker is moving everyone to MetaTrader 5
  • TradingView users who want a Pine Script strategy to trade automatically in MetaTrader 5
  • Traders with a system on another platform who want one terminal for everything

Price

€85 fixed, EUR, no VAT added

For a standard case as described on this page. If your case is bigger, I tell you before any extra work.

What is included

  • A first look at the source to confirm the conversion is practical, and a list of anything that works differently on the target platform
  • Translation of the logic of one Expert Advisor or strategy, with the custom indicators it depends on
  • Behaviour matched to the original as closely as the two platforms allow, with the unavoidable differences explained
  • Side-by-side testing of the old and new versions on the same data, with a short comparison
  • The converted files and a note on how to install and set them up

What is not included

  • Redesigning or improving the strategy. The goal is the same behaviour on the new platform
  • Programs you only hold in compiled form (.ex4 or similar). I need the readable source
  • Identical results in every case. Order handling, history and testing differ between platforms, so small differences can appear; I explain them
  • Conversions I judge to be impractical. I tell you before you pay
  • Any promise of profit

What you receive

How it works

  1. Send the source and say where it must run. Attach the original files and tell me the target platform and the symbol and timeframe you use.
  2. I judge the conversion. I read the code, list what will work differently, and confirm whether the conversion is practical.
  3. I translate. I rewrite the logic and the indicators in the new language rather than pasting old code into a new file.
  4. I compare. Both versions run on the same data, and I note any difference and its cause.
  5. Delivery and a week of follow-up. You receive the files and the comparison. For seven days I fix genuine bugs in the conversion, in up to three rounds.

Timeline. A standard case usually takes three to seven working days. A system with many custom indicators or special libraries takes longer, and I say so after the first look.

What to send me

  • All source files: .mq4 and .mqh, or the full Pine Script text, or the source from the other platform
  • The platform and language you want to end up on
  • The symbol, timeframe and broker you trade it on
  • Settings and a short description of what the system does
  • Any external library or DLL it uses, which is best mentioned before you order

Corrections and ownership

Seven days after delivery for genuine bugs in the conversion, up to three rounds. Improving the strategy is a new job; it is wiser to convert first, check it behaves the same, then change one thing at a time.

The code written for you is yours once you have paid in full. I keep my general techniques but never your private rules, and I do not share or reuse what you send me.

Cases like yours

A broker leaving MetaTrader 4

A long-running robot and two custom indicators had to move to MetaTrader 5 before the old terminal closed.

From chart to robot

A Pine Script strategy that worked well on the chart needed to place its own orders at a broker.

One terminal for everything

A trader wanted a system built for another platform running next to the rest of the setup.

Frequently asked questions

Which conversions do you do?
MQL4 to MQL5 is the most common. I also convert Pine Script and other platform languages to MQL5, and the reverse where it makes sense. I tell you before you pay if I think a conversion is not practical.
Will the converted version behave exactly like the original?
As closely as the platforms allow. They handle orders, history and testing differently, so I compare both on the same data and explain any difference.
Do you convert indicators too?
Yes, the ones the system depends on. A migration left half done is not much use.
I only have a compiled file. Can you convert it?
No. I need the readable source. I do not take apart other people's programs.
Should I improve the strategy during the conversion?
It is better not to. Convert first, confirm the behaviour matches, then change one thing at a time.
What about libraries or DLLs?
Tell me before you order. I check whether they can be replaced or kept and tell you what that means for the conversion.
