Citation Style Converter
Fill in the details of a source once and see the reference in APA, MLA, Chicago and ABNT.
How this converter works
Instead of guessing at pasted text, this tool builds each reference from the fields you fill in, following the rules for the APA 7th edition reference list, the MLA 9th edition works-cited list, the Chicago 17th edition bibliography (notes and bibliography style) and the Brazilian ABNT NBR 6023 standard. Titles are used exactly as you type them, so enter book and article titles in the capitalisation your style needs: APA uses sentence case for titles (the tick box does a first-pass conversion), while MLA and Chicago use title case. Italics are kept when you copy, so you can paste straight into Word or Google Docs.
Style guides have many special cases (several works by one author, translated works, chapters in edited books, social media and more) that this simple form does not cover, and your university or publisher may use its own variant. Treat the result as a well-formed first draft and check it against the style guide or your institution's requirements. Nothing you type leaves your browser. For creating a single reference from scratch, see also the Citation Generator.
