What BIMI needs
BIMI (Brand Indicators for Message Identification) lets your logo appear next to your messages in supporting inboxes. It needs: (1) DMARC enforcement — a policy of quarantine or reject with pct=100 (see the DMARC record generator); (2) a logo in SVG Tiny Portable/Secure format (square, no scripts, images or external links, under about 32 KB) served over https; and (3) for Gmail and Apple Mail, a Verified Mark Certificate (VMC) or Common Mark Certificate (CMC) from an approved authority, whose .pem address goes in the a= tag. Some other providers show the logo without a certificate.
Publish the record as a TXT record named default._bimi under your domain. The SVG checker looks for the common problems (the required version and baseProfile, a square shape, forbidden elements, external references and file size) — it is a helpful first check, not a full validator, so also test with your certificate provider’s tool. Verify the live records with the SPF & DMARC checker.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a certificate?
For Gmail and Apple Mail, yes. Without one your logo may still show at a few other providers.
What is the selector?
“default” in almost every case; other selectors are for special set-ups.
Is my logo uploaded?
No. The SVG is checked in your browser.
