Screen Recorder
Record your whole screen, one window, or a single browser tab, with its sound and/or your microphone. The recording is built entirely in your browser; nothing is uploaded unless you choose to.
Asks for a separate permission. If it is refused, the recording carries on without it.
Only works for a browser tab in most browsers, and only if you tick "share audio" in the picker your browser shows next. Sharing a whole screen or a single window usually has no sound to include.
How to record
Press Choose what to record. Your browser shows its own picker for a whole screen, a single window, or one browser tab — pick one and, if you want its sound included, tick the picker's own "share audio" option. Press Stop recording when you are done, or use your browser's own "stop sharing" control.
Limits and format
A recording stops itself automatically at , whichever comes first, so it always stays within a size the rest of the video tools can open. It is saved in whichever format your browser's recorder supports — usually WebM (VP9 or VP8 with Opus sound); Safari saves MP4 directly. The file this tool hands you is exactly what your browser recorded, at a default quality of about 2 Mbps.
Fixing seeking and converting
Browsers write a WebM recording a piece at a time and often leave out its overall length and seek points, so the file can look like it has no duration or refuses to skip ahead until you play all the way through it once. Fix seeking rebuilds the file's header properly, in seconds, with no loss of quality. For a short recording, Convert to MP4 is also offered for wider compatibility; for a longer one, use the Video Converter afterwards instead, so this page does not keep your tab busy re-encoding for a long time.
Frequently asked questions
Is my recording uploaded?
No. It stays in your browser until you download it. Closing or reloading the page loses it, so the page asks before it lets you leave while you are recording.
Why is there no button, or why does it say my browser cannot do this?
Screen recording needs the Screen Capture API, which most phone browsers (including all of them on iOS) do not offer. Use a current desktop browser — Chrome, Edge or Firefox — instead.
Can I record my microphone as well as the screen?
Yes, tick "Also record my microphone" before you start; your browser will ask for that permission separately from the screen picker.
