Resignation Letter Generator
Fill in a few details and get a polite, clear resignation letter to print, save as PDF or copy into an email.
This is a generic starting template, not legal advice. Check your employment contract for your notice period and any other conditions before you send it, and keep a copy. If you are unsure about your rights — for example if you are resigning because of how you have been treated — speak to Acas, your union or a solicitor first, because what you write can matter later. Your details stay in your browser.
Writing a good resignation letter
Keep it short, polite and factual: say you are resigning, state your job title and your last working day, and thank your employer if you can. You do not have to give a reason, and you should not put complaints in the letter. In the UK the notice you must give is in your contract (the legal minimum after one month of service is one week), and the letter is best handed over in person or sent by email with a copy kept for yourself.
In British letters, “Dear Name” ends with Yours sincerely; “Dear Sir or Madam” ends with Yours faithfully. The generator follows that rule automatically.
