Which format should I pick?

JPG is best for photos — small files, no transparency. PNG keeps sharp edges and full transparency, ideal for screenshots, logos and graphics. WebP is a modern format that is usually smaller than both JPG and PNG and supports transparency; all current browsers can display it. GIF is limited to 256 colours and on/off transparency, so photos lose some quality, and animated GIFs are converted using their first frame only. BMP is an uncompressed format for legacy software and gives large files. Formats without transparency (JPG, BMP) fill transparent areas with the background colour you choose. Conversion happens on your device, so very large images may take a moment.
