Blur & Pixelate Image Tool

Drag over any part of a picture to blur it, pixelate it or black it out before you share it. Your image stays on your device.

Your image never leaves your computer. Edits are made in your browser — nothing is uploaded or stored. For anything really sensitive (passwords, account numbers, addresses, documents) choose Solid box: blur and pixelation can sometimes be partly reversed, especially on small text.

Choosing the right effect

Blur softens detail and looks natural for faces and backgrounds. Pixelate turns the area into large squares — the classic “censored” look. Solid box paints the area black and removes the original pixels completely, which is the only reliable way to hide text such as licence plates, addresses or card numbers. Higher strength means a wider blur or bigger squares.

The saved image is a new file with the effects baked in. Photos taken on phones may contain location data in their metadata; the saved copy is redrawn from pixels and does not keep it. Related: image cropper and watermark tool.
