What APR means

APR expresses the yearly cost of borrowing, including interest and upfront fees, as a single percentage. Here the fees are deducted from the money you actually receive, and the APR is the monthly rate at which the payments equal that reduced amount, multiplied by 12 (the convention used for consumer loans in the US and many other countries). Rules vary by country — some lenders also include insurance or other charges — so treat this as an estimate and compare it with the APR your lender is required to disclose.
