Domain Name Idea Generator
Type two to four words that describe your project and get a list of short, valid domain names built from them: joined in different orders, with prefixes and suffixes, and with synonyms.
Ideas only: availability is not checked. Any name here may already be registered, may be for sale at a high price, or may resemble an existing business or trade mark. Search the names at a registrar before you get attached to one, and check trade mark registers if the name is for a business. Nothing you type is sent anywhere unless you click a registrar link.
Each ending is listed by IANA as a generic or country-code top-level domain (or, for .co.uk, .org.uk and .me.uk, as a suffix under .uk). Prices, renewal costs and who may register differ by ending: the registrar shows them.
Check a name at a registrar
The Porkbun link beside each domain opens its search page with that name filled in. To compare prices, copy a name and paste it into the search box of another registrar: Namecheap, GoDaddy, 123 Reg, Gandi, IONOS. These are ordinary links with no affiliate code. Clicking any of them sends that name (or nothing, for the home-page links) to the registrar; this page sends nothing itself. You can also use our Whois Lookup for a name you already know.
How the names are made
Your words are tidied first: accents are removed (café becomes cafe), everything is lower case, and spaces, punctuation and symbols are dropped, because a domain name can only contain the letters a to z, the digits 0 to 9 and hyphens. Words in other alphabets cannot be used here. Then the tool builds candidates from up to four words: each word alone; every ordered pair, triple and quadruple of your words joined together (so coffee and roast give both coffeeroast and roastcoffee); a short list of common prefixes (such as get, try, my) and suffixes (such as hq, hub, lab); and synonyms from a small built-in list, which are swapped into single words, prefixed and suffixed names and pairs. Hyphenated pairs are optional because hyphens are easy to forget when a name is spoken aloud.
A candidate is kept only if it is a valid domain label: 63 characters at most, no hyphen at the start or end, no double hyphen in the third and fourth positions (those are reserved for international names), and not made only of digits. Duplicates are removed, and you can set the shortest and longest length. Where two words meet with the same letter (bookkeeper-style joins) the row is marked, because that spelling is easy to mistype. Up to 600 names are kept, the shortest first by default, and each is shown with every ending you tick.
Choosing well. Say the name out loud: a joined name can accidentally spell another word where the two words meet, so read it as a customer would. Shorter is easier to remember and type. Consider which country your customers are in: .co.uk and .uk read as British, .com is the default people type. The word lists are our own and small; they are a starting point, not a naming service, and a name is not safe to use just because it appears here. For business names see the Business Name Generator; for handles try the Username Generator.
Source / Last verified (26 September 2026): the ending types (generic or country-code) come from the IANA Root Zone Database; .co.uk, .org.uk and .me.uk are suffixes in the Public Suffix List. The note that .app requires HTTPS is from Google Registry. The prefix, suffix and synonym lists are our own; no registrar or naming service supplied them, and no availability or price data is used.
