How text-shadow works

Each layer of text-shadow has a horizontal offset, a vertical offset, an optional blur radius and a colour: text-shadow: 2px 4px 6px rgba(0,0,0,0.5). Layers are separated by commas and the first one is drawn on top. A blur of 0 gives a hard copy of the text (used for outlines and 3D effects); larger blurs give glows and soft shadows. Stacking several layers with the same colour and growing blur builds a stronger glow. Keep enough contrast between the text and its background so the words stay readable, especially for small sizes.
