ASCII Art Text Generator

Type a word and get large banner-style letters built from text characters — ready to paste into code comments, README files, terminals and chats.

Using ASCII art

ASCII art uses ordinary text characters to draw pictures and lettering. This generator uses a classic 5×7 dot-matrix font, so every letter is drawn from a grid of dots. It looks best in a monospaced font, such as in a terminal, a code editor, a README file or a <pre> block — in a chat app with a normal font the columns will not line up. Block characters (█ and half blocks) need a font that supports them, which almost every modern one does.

Lower-case letters are drawn as capitals, and characters that the font does not have are skipped. To restyle ordinary text instead of drawing it large, use the fancy text generator.
