Daily Task/Shift Handover Logger for Teams
A simple shared log for teams to record what happened on shift and what the next shift needs to know.
The Problem
Important details get lost between shifts when handover relies on a verbal chat or a scribbled note — a simple shared digital log means nothing depends on someone remembering to mention it.
About this problem
When a shift ends, much of what the next team needs to know exists only in the head of the person leaving: what was left half-finished, which customer is waiting and which machine needs watching. Verbal handovers and loose notes depend on people remembering to mention everything, and the details do not survive busy days or absences.
Teams in care, hospitality, support, workshops and small operations usually look for this when a missed handover has caused a problem. They want a simple shared record with a clear order of events and an obvious way to see what is urgent or unresolved, usable from any phone or computer.
What's Included
- A simple web form/dashboard for logging shift notes and handover items
- A clear, chronological view the next shift can check at the start of their day
- Basic flagging for anything marked urgent/unresolved
- Access for your whole team, protected from public access
What's NOT Included
- Integration with existing shift-scheduling software (can be scoped separately if it has an API)
- Automated task assignment or reminders beyond the log itself
- Mobile app development — this is a simple web tool, usable from any phone browser
How It Works
- I agree the fields of a handover entry with you, such as author, shift, note text, category and urgency or resolved status.
- I build a web form for adding entries, with the date, time and author recorded automatically.
- I store entries in a small database or file on your hosting with safe handling of simultaneous submissions.
- I build a chronological view with the most recent entries first, highlighting items marked urgent or unresolved and letting them be marked resolved later.
- I protect the tool with a login or password for the team and test it on phone and desktop with sample entries across several shifts.
In practice: you buy the service, send over whatever access or details the job needs, I investigate and do the work, and you confirm it's resolved before we call it done.
Frequently Asked Questions
- How do I keep a shift handover log for my team?
- A shared web form where each person records what happened and what the next shift needs to know. I build it with a chronological view so it is easy to check at the start of a shift.
- Can I mark something as urgent?
- Yes. Entries can be flagged as urgent or unresolved and they stand out until they are marked resolved.
- Does it assign tasks or send reminders?
- No. It is a log only. Automated task assignment and reminders are not included.
- Can it connect to our scheduling software?
- Not as part of this service. Integration would be scoped separately and depends on the software offering an API.
- Is there a mobile app?
- No app is built, but the tool is a web page that works in any phone browser.
- Who can see the entries?
- Only your team, behind a login or password.
