Bulk WhatsApp Click-to-Chat Link Generator
Generate hundreds of ready-to-use WhatsApp click-to-chat links from a patient/client contact list.
The Problem
Clinics and dentists often want a personalised WhatsApp link per patient (for reminders, confirmations) but building each link and message by hand for a whole list isn't practical.
About this problem
A WhatsApp click-to-chat link is simply a wa.me address containing a phone number in international format, followed by an optional URL-encoded message. Building these by hand is fiddly because numbers arrive in mixed formats (leading zeros, spaces, brackets, missing country codes) and message text has to be percent-encoded correctly or it breaks the link.
Clinics, dentists and other appointment-based businesses usually look for this when they want to send reminders or confirmations personally, but have a list of dozens or hundreds of contacts. A person still taps each link and presses send, which keeps the messages individual and within WhatsApp's own rules.
What's Included
- A script that takes your CSV of contacts and generates a correct wa.me link for each one
- Pre-filled, personalised message text per contact (name, appointment date, etc.)
- Output as a ready-to-use spreadsheet with clickable links
- Correct phone number formatting handled automatically
What's NOT Included
- Sending the messages automatically (WhatsApp's own terms restrict bulk automated sending — these are click-to-chat links a human sends)
- Patient data storage or management beyond generating the links
- Ongoing list updates unless re-run on a new export
How It Works
- I check your contact CSV to see how names, phone numbers and appointment details are stored and which country code applies by default.
- I write a number normaliser that strips spaces, brackets and leading zeros and produces the international digits-only format wa.me expects, flagging numbers it cannot resolve.
- I build a message template with placeholders such as name and appointment date, filled per row and URL-encoded so special characters and line breaks survive.
- I assemble each wa.me link from the cleaned number and encoded message, and write the results to a spreadsheet with clickable links alongside the original columns.
- I test a sample of the links on a phone to confirm they open the right chat with the right pre-filled text.
In practice: you buy the service, send over whatever access or details the job needs, I investigate and do the work, and you confirm it's resolved before we call it done.
Frequently Asked Questions
- How do I create WhatsApp links for a list of phone numbers?
- Each link follows the pattern wa.me/number?text=message, with the number in international format and the message URL-encoded. The script does this for every row of your CSV so you do not have to build them one by one.
- Does it send the messages automatically?
- No. WhatsApp's terms restrict bulk automated sending, so this generates click-to-chat links that a person opens and sends. That is by design.
- Can each message be personalised?
- Yes. The message text can include fields from your CSV, such as the patient's name or appointment date, so each link carries its own pre-filled text.
- What if some phone numbers are in the wrong format?
- The script cleans common formatting differences and adds your default country code where needed. Numbers that still cannot be interpreted are listed so you can correct them.
- Does it store patient or client data?
- No. It reads your file, produces the link spreadsheet and does nothing else with the data. Any storage or management of contact data is outside this service.
- Can I re-use it when I have a new list?
- Yes, you can run it again on any new CSV with the same layout. A different layout or additional fields would need a small adjustment.
